Humbly staying on the fringe of groups would fit with the low profile of masochistic (depressive-masochistic variant) personality. Like dependent personality, masochistic personality belongs to the 'fear cluster' of disorders on axis II.

Hello Jan:
The profile text mentions low self esteem, and implies chronic anxiety. The healthy Self-Sacrificing doesn't seem to suffer chronic anxiety. Of course, my experience is almost all with the 2W1, the Self Sacrificing mixed with alot of Dramatic Style, so perhaps that's atypical. My 9W1 mother, Self Sacriificing as 2nd strongest style, never seemed to have anxiety at all! The Devoteds, I know, seem to suffer from anxiety alot.... Rich
