> A person with many apparent paradoxical traits:

> He longed for silence and peace but he dressed like a dandy wanted to live the life of artistic bohemian, but at same time hated these loud people !? ' There is so much ' betise', which I can't stand, perhaps because I myself am the greatest example'

> He put himself in a loud group only to be silent....?

> He compared people with rats in the water; ' You are indifferent towards them but they belong in the picure'

> He was so uncommunicative and socially clumsy and ' locked ' (not talking about own feelings) that when an important French painter (Verlaine) visited him, V. went to his neighbour-artist Isaac Israels (who became really famous)

> He did many things, also art critic, organiser of artistic meetings and aide to collegues in problems. His silence kept him out of trouble caused by many labile drunk artists, who impulsively started to fight.

> - Idiosyncratic Style
> - Serious Style
> - Sensitive Style
> - Self Confident Style (compensatory narcissistic)

Hello Jan:
I vote for Sensitive & Idiosyncratic & Dramatic, a 5W4, or perhaps a 4W5. Having compensatory narcissism myself, he doesn't sound like he had it! From the texts, he sounds like he had trouble being with people, and with noise. The Solitray style could apply to somebody like him ( Sensitive-Solitray-Dramatic. Idiosyncratic works better, in this case! ) Rich
