The whole belonging/otherness/uniqueness thing has definitely hampered me and I'm very much looking at that at the momen. Yeah "otherness" can very easily become unworthiness and shame because most people are disturbed by what is different, esp. if they can't pigeon-hole you. You have to find the rare, perceptive people who will find you interesting and like you for being different.
I also have to deal with shame over not being a success. I'm sure for public speaking in the widest sense you can attend a course or class that will help. Or just a confidence raising group. They seem to have a good success rate. There are also lots of books on it, but practice would help more.
