> Hi i'm definitely a type 4. i constantly have this barrier of self-doubt and depression about how crap i am. I guess being in an acting school where the environment is totally critical isn't the best, but it seems like these bouts of absolute despair, confusion and constant worry about which way to go seem to come in cycles. Does anyone have any tips to get over this as a 4? any comments are much appreciated.
I know the feeling. I constantly suffer from self doubt and low-esteem. I always focus on what I don't have and want, not on what I have that is good. Obviously thinking positive is a start. I believe there is an asset to every liability and although extreme positive thinking will make you happier, it will also severly distort reality. The same reality distortion is true for extreme negative thinking, a trait many fours seem to have. I try to remind myself of all the good things I do have, and just be happy that I am a healthy person. It's funny, no matter what I am or who I became, I would still hate myself at times, it doesn't matter what happens because my goals tend to be idealistic and out of reach. I think you have a great start towards bettering yourself given the fact you found this board. Deep down you know what needs to be done, it just helps to talk about it with others who can empathize. As for now, just remember the good, and realize that when you start to think about how crap you are, you are severly distorting reality. Next time you start to feel yourself in a bad mood try to take a step back and analyze what you are feeling and thinking. The more you do this, the more you will realize how trivial some of the things you worry about are. Hope this helps, good luck.
