I am a 5w4, and I will give you my perspective. I think 4s do tend to have more empathy than a lot of other types. But I think there is also another factor. When I get discouraged - I think all 4s and w4s know what I'm talking about - it either has to do with losing hope in my environment or in myself. With regards to the environment, it this loss of hope comes from seeing bad things happening in other people and between other people (possibly between yourself and someone else, but not necessarily involving you) and I get discouraged about the world I live in and how out of place I feel in it and how disconnected I feel from the people I am around on a regular basis (like in the workplace). I think the key to working past this, which is what I am trying to do, is to realize that all pain has a purpose in the grand scheme of things. Everyone is on their own path and it is up to them to find their own happiness. And that goes for all of us. It is up to us to find our own happiness. I try to find fulfillment in the little things I do in my dialy life, I try to feel connected to nature when I am outside or driving, I try to experience my own worth in what I bring to the world. But I think it starts with small things - not instantly transforming the entire world into a better place. It's playing our part - and that includes every little moment of our lives - each one filled with opportunity and potential meaning.
