It's a 4 thing? I just thought it was me. I cannot keep money coming in to save my life either. I have no debt but my car is on borrowed time. Replacing it will put me in bad debt...and no job to speak of for "credit" in getting a loan. And right now I'm out of work because they didn't hire any adjuncts for the summer (I teach writing). So I'm looking for a part-time job that doesn't exist in the time frame I'm available....
What car insurance do you have? I have Geico and I really appreciate them. Have had no accidents, however, so they haven't really been put to the test...
It occured to me...are they giving you a bad time BECAUSE you have a claim now? It rattles my cage to have to spend time and energy on other people's mistakes like that TOO!
Hang in there. And don't let them take you. Wish I had better advice. Wish I had ANY advice.
Be straight with them and direct but don't let them see the pissed off side or that will fuel their fires to keep you under the thumb. I'd say a direct letter with all your documentation and a "cc" to any lawyer you know will help back them off some.
> > to give a more accurate picture -- I now have two children, one in grade school and one in day care, and their father, my common-law husband, does not work steady. So you can see why I never have any money.
> >But I am not going to go on a self-indulgent pity spree because of this. I sense that people are just playing me to see if I'll give up the money, and I'm not. I'm taking all the money I work hard for and spending it where I want to spend it, not on everyone else's bullshit.
> >what set me off on this was, this morning, I called my car insurance company to see why they had not sent my monthly bill yet, it usually comes around the first of the month. They said that I had been cancelled for non-payment at the end of May and that I'd have to come in with double payment to restart. I pointed out that I had the cleared check from May 6 proving I had paid last month. They responded that yes, they received that check, but I had been lagging a month behind for the past few months. I said that there was no indication of this in any of the bills I had been paying since I started the policy in March with a double payment. Now my husband is absolutely furious and now I have to deal with that, too; he's ready to go in and rip them apart in person. He's getting the paperwork together to show our payment history, but meanwhile we are looking at another company. Look at all the time and energy wasted on someone else's error in billing us. Not to mention that if I HADN'T CALLED THEM, and I was in an ACCIDENT today, I would NOT HAVE KNOWN that I was NOT INSURED! I Fu@king HATE dealing with all of these incompetent assholes! I HAVE a full-time paying job AND another full-time job raising two kids AND I REFUSE TO BE BURDENED WITH ANY MORE CRAP!!!!!
