These are the type of Republican weasels I work for:

every year, everyone in the entire company who is non-exempt gets a small cost-of-living raise, appears in the July 15 check. It is usually announed on July 1. Now, last year's was pathetically tiny, I got about $450 gross. Still, that helps to cover annual increases in some of my living expenses, you know, like the increase in gasoline prices and in home heating gas.

This year, I know of at leat 4 of the exempt professionals in this department getting hefty raises -- $20,000+. But they have yet to announce the annual cost-of-living increase for us lowly non-exempt workers. I have asked 3 people in upper management what's going on with it since I arrived Monday morning. They have all said, we'll get back to you. I believe that they are planning to give us NOTHING this year. Yet my living expenses have gone up. To give the 800 non-exempt workers in this company a $500 raise -- that's $400,000 -- they are not willing to invest that much into half their workers! This company I work for is sitting on millions in reserve cash, and they threw $60,000 at just one of my co-workers last year just because he threatened to quit. Yet they are not willing to invest $500 per person for half their workforce. Then people wonder why workers "go off." (Don't worry, I don't own a gun.)
