> I'm 21 years old and a fairly good looking person and I have never even had a girlfriend! I think it's totally whack, but something about me keeps me from being affectionate. I wouldn't consider myself shy but I never really talk with anyone. But whenever it comes to girls that I feel I really like I get overly withdrawn and tend to avoid them and admire them from a distance even if I feel they are interested.

Oh, cry me a river. I'm 16, and, even if I say so myself, quite pretty (albeit with a bit of a tummy..). But I have had two disastrous 3-day/1date relationships - Why? I am obssessed with the notion of romance, and I long to be in love. It's just whenever I get into a remotely "dangerous" liason, I feel incredibly panicky - I literally broke up with thise guy because I couldn't stand the feeling in my stomach after 72h straight. Pathetic.

So, take emoot's advice. Plunge in, maybe talk about it. Flatter her with attention, I think - be relaxed and fun and reassure her of your attentions. Don't forget, she's shy as hell too.
