yes, yes, yes. I've done all of those things...I do them fairly often, actually. I just moved from colorado springs (scary, uber-religious, conservative military town) to the seattle area which is pretty liberal and granola. I had these save the earth and evolution bumper stickers on my car that I took off once I got here because they didn't piss people off or make me stand out anymore in this town....hmmm....
> > Question for type 4's then : in concern to being individualistic, do you ever do things just because no one else was doing it? Or done bizarre things just because you thought it would be funny? Or quit doing something because someone else started doing it, even if they were just copying you? (Don't know why that annoys me, it's like 'Hey! Make up your own game to play! This one's mine!'

According to some, the polar opposite of ESTJs which make up the largest portion of society..... so if that is true, the feeling of being different is backed up by actually being rare. (: So feeling like an alien is actually affirmed by our social circumstances.... in a way. Too, I think the circumstances feed each other... I think that feeling different becomes a cycle....others do notice and tell us, "Hey, you are really different." We hear that and it becomes part of who we are....a label to identify ourselves with.
> The identity thing is another point..... I find that a lot of fours try to identify themselves with stuff they like....like music, art, writing, hobbies, etc..
> Because fours are always seeking self definition....they feel so loose and open that it seems a little scary...so they naturally look for things to attach their personalities to. I think is very important for a four to say... "I am an artist" or "I am a vegan."......whatever they have taken an interest in, whatever they have take to heart...becomes an integral part of them. They focus on it.....so that they have a hook to hang their personality on.
> Part of the unique quality may come from the fact that we see things differently in the first place... and what appeals to the masses...really doesn't appeal to us.
> I don't think that I have ever consciously done anything just to be different. (although, I believe if "Being different" becomes an important identity label for a four.....some may seek to really promote that aspect of themselves.) I actually believe that I see things differently than most people....because I think about things on a very deep level and I think about many options. It is part of what comes with creative and divergent thinking. Perhaps a gift and a curse......
> I don't really know, though. It's just something that I think about from time to time.
