Well I understand your position, and since it is the second largest expence that you will have in your life (first being home purchase which is just as painful). I'll tell you what I did. I went to school to be an architect and after graduating found I despised the job. Much too much control, and no free will to add my point of view (and after speaking to other Architects it didn't get any better). I spent several years of moving to different industries (being sucessful but not happy) I ended up in building inspection for the town I live in. I love being in control and able to engage my curiosity to keep up with my need for information. Though I wish, fruitlessly looking back, that I went into the NSA or FBI (they have such cool toys), I really do love my job and can finally look forward.
I know my aspirations are not the same as yours, but the one thing I have learned that you may find useful is: Titles are decieving. You should start interning ASAP. Be aware that the career that fits you, may be in the accouting office down the hall where you wouldn't think to look. The words "I can't wait to go to work" come from very few mouths, so learn what you enjoy to do, there is always a company that'll pay you to do it. (it may even be your own...)
