Very well said!! Isabel Briggs Myers called this one of her "heresies". I quoted her earlier in December here. I will repeat Isabel to underline your experience as a normal expression of free-will. Free-will is also the human faculty that allows one to be "willing" to not follow a habitual mechanical mindless pattern associated with enneagram personality types. Isabel said "It is my private theory, and has been for a long time, that people are not nearly as shut off from the third and fourth processes as some people would have you think. I believe that the key to the practical use of the 3rd and 4th functions is to voluntarily shut off the first and the second for a bit when dealing with a problem, and listen to what the others can contribute in the service of the dominant." Perciever, did you have a conscious motivation for using your 3rd and 4th functions, or was it a playful discovery, or something else? Walter
